The Chicago Rush looks to return to the ArenaBowl when the 2008 season kicks off in March.
One of the most successful teams in the AFL, the Rush has qualified for the playoffs in each of its seven seasons, winning the Central Division three times, advancing to the AFL semifinals five times and, of course, winning the ArenaBowl XX title in 2006 with a 69-61 win over Orlando.
Off the field, the Rush continues to grow at the gate and on TV. Attendance for Rush games at Allstate Arena reached an all-time high in 2007 with an average of 15,609 fans per game. On TV, Chicago was the most-televised team in the Arena Football League with nearly half of its games broadcast to a national audience and 90 percent to a regional audience. Similar growth league-wide is evidenced by the recent broadcasting agreement between the ESPN/ABC network and the AFL. They entered into a five-year pact begining in 2007, and support will include national games on Monday nights, as well as the launch of AFL fantasy football on ESPN.com.
Much of the
AFL’s
success continues
to be attributed
to its loyal,
expanding
fan base.
This loyalty
is supported
by a recent
ESPN Sports
Poll (March
’
07) stating
that AFL fans
have the highest
propensity
to try, switch
to, or
be loyal to
brands based
on a sponsorship
of a sport
they follow.
These
scores are
higher than
every other
major sport
including
the NFL, Major
League Baseball,
the NBA and
the NHL, and
even exceed
the widely
publicized
NASCAR loyalty
figures.
While there
are many vehicles
for executing
marketing
objectives,
we’re
confident
that -- after
you learn
more about
the Chicago
Rush -- you
will
want to become
involved with
the city’s
fastest growing
sport. For
